Five “Vacation Gone Wrong” Thriller/Mystery Books
It may only be April, but vacation season will be upon us soon. While you start planning your summer trip, let’s take a quick look at some of the best worst-case-scenario vacation books on my shelf. Echo by Thomas Olde Heuvelt Echo was one of my most recent reads after Johnathan surprised me with a copy…
ARC Review: Burden Falls by Kat Ellis
Burden Falls was a fun mix between traditional thriller and supernatural. Penguin Teen describes it as “Riverdale meets The Haunting of Hill House”, which I thought was a really fitting description, because as I was reading it, I was getting major Riverdale vibes, if Riverdale had a little more of a New England-y, old money, old families type vibe. Burden Falls follows Ava,…
Things Heard & Seen: Book vs. Movie // Review
The film Things Heard and Seen, starring Amanda Seyfried and Natalia Dyer and directed by Sheri Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini, premiered on Netflix recently, and while a lot of people have watched it and I see people talking about it, something I have yet to see many reviews acknowledge is the fact that the film is actually based on a novel, the literary thriller All Things Cease to Appear by Elizabeth Brundage. I think it’s worth acknowledging, however, and worth delving into, because the novel is a very beautifully written, expansive work, and the movie—while faithful in many ways—is an interesting and, at times, successful interpretation of the original work.

Alright, we’re going to do this, it’s time for another book review. Let’s just roll with it. I have no preamble that anyone really wants to hear, so let’s just hop right in. The Hunting Party is a murder mystery thriller by Lucy Foley published in December of 2018. And let me tell you, I…
Book Review: The Dead Girls Club by Damien Angelica Walters
The Dead Girls Club, by Damien Angelica Waters, is a supernatural thriller that hits shelves December 10th, 2019. The Dead Girls Club follows Heather, who kicks things off the story by receiving a mysterious envelope which contains one half of one of those super-popular-in-the-90s “best friends forever” broken heart necklaces. The problem is, it’s her…
Book Review: Two Can Keep a Secret by Karen McManus
Two Can Keep a Secret is another teen murder mystery from the author of One of Us Is Lying, which was a really fun Breakfast Club meets Gossip Girl romp, if one of the members of the Breakfast Club ended up dead during detention. In Two Can Keep a Secret, we’re looking at more of…
Book Review: Baby Teeth by Zoje Stage
Baby Teeth caught my attention months ago when I saw its simplistic yet powerful red and white cover floating around over on bookstagram, and when I found out what it was about, I was even more intrigued. So when this book surfaced in my own home (seriously, shout-out to my boyfriend for letting me read…
YA Reviews: Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young & There’s Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins
Today I’m going to be talking about a super hyped YA novel just released in May of this year, in addition to a fun YA slasher (that’s right, I used fun and slasher together) by Stephanie Perkins, author of the popular Anna and the French Kiss series. That’s right, today is a good old-fashioned two-for-one.…

If you’ve been floating around the bookish community over the past few months, there’s a pretty good chance you’ve already heard of Bonfire. But in case you haven’t, let’s recap: Bonfire is a suspense/psychological thriller novel by Krysten Ritter, who, prior to penning this novel, was best known for being an actress in shows like…
